A Hazardous area is an area in which an explosive atmosphere is or may be present in quantities sufficient to require special precautions in the installation and use of electrical equipment. This can be in the form of gas, dust or vapour.
Hazardous areas are classified by Zone 0, 1, and 2 by AS/NZS 60079.10 and AS/NZS 2430.3.
